For birth, marriage and death records, write to:
Comune di Tusa
Ufficio di Stato Civile
98079 Tusa (Messina)

For family certificates (Certificato di stato di Famiglia -composition of a family) use the same address as above but substitute the second line for Ufficio Anagrafe.

I could not find a church in Tusa using the Italian white and yellow pages. There's probably one, perhaps they don't have a phone number...
The LDS Family History Centers have records on births, marriage and death in Tusa but for the period 1821-1865. If interested in going back that far, check their website:

Finally, I tried different variations on the spelling of Pescatello and could not find anything on the phone directory or on the link below. What other variations of the surname you have?
Check the Gens site for the geographical distribution of a surname in Italy.
I hope this information is useful. Best of luck!

I am looking for any info on the Pescatello (or similar spelling) family of Tusa, Messina, Sicily. Several family members emigrated to the USA about 1900- 1910.
Any info on this family from Tusa would be greatly appreciated.

Also....where would I find vital records or church records for Tusa?
Thanks,
Sarah = SARWAL1@aol.com

Thanks Marco, I had some immigration records with the PISCITELLO spelling, and wasn't sure which spelling was used in Sicily. A family member is traveling to Tusa, this month, inorder to find "cousins" and lineage info.

I very much appreciate your help.

Thanks again, Sarah

The other spelling of the name are Piscitello and Piscetelli, and variations of these two are also found on some USA records.

Thanks for your help, I will definitely follow up on your information.

All of my family departed Palermo for NY about 1920, all the names I know from in and around Palermo are spelt: Piscitello, that is until they reached the shore and names were missplelled because of the language barrier. I would be interested in any info you may have as well.
