I think we should give a big card of thanks to Kerry Nelder who has painstakingly transcribed all the OVR names from indexes which he has acquired and donated his efforts to the furthering of Manitoulin genealogy. His next effort will be approximately 105 birth surnames from 1894. If none of these surnames belong to you, check for some minor corrections which have been made to various names.

Surnames: Williamson, Lynch, Calder, Cox, Caddel, Seabrook, Wagg,
I do not see my family name on your list. How would one go about including it on your website? I am a decendant of David Williamson and Sarah Lynch:
BIOGRAPHY: THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS TAKEN FROM THE MINDEMOYA TWEEDSMUIR BOOK. It was written by Jean Williamson (RIN 153)

BIOGRAPHY: David Williamson with his wife Sarah Lynch, came to Manitoulin Island (Ontario, Canada) in 1880, from the Ayr district in North Dumfries Township of Southern Ontario. With them was their family of three boys, James, William and David - a babe in arms. David Sr. was a son of James Williamson and his wifeAnne Calder who came to Canada from Scotland - and may have originally settled in Caledonia.

BIOGRAPHY: When David and Sarah embarked from Owen Sound, they landed at Manitowaning and were driven by cart to Van Zant's Landing. From there they went by boat across Lake Manitou, to Lehman's Landing - where Sid Cox presently lives. By then Sarah would have liked a cup of tea but none was forthcoming. They then walked -- probably the forest trail - about 3 miles to John Caddel's house on Lake Mindemoya. Mrs. Caddel was David's sister. Sarah carried the baby, David, in her arms all the way.

BIOGRAPHY: It is known that they lived in a log cabin on what is now Jack Seabrook's farm and Andrew was born there in 1883, also probably Walter, Mary and Harry.

BIOGRAPHY: In 1892 they pruchased from Frank and Elizabeth Wagg, the Colin Wagg farm and the Williamson family still owns this farm. Harold and Peter run the farm now.

BIOGRAPHY: This settlement was known then as Hopetown and was the site of the first fall fair in 1883 in Mindemoya.

BIOGRAPHY: For many years the Department of Agriculture used part of the farm as an Experimental Station under the care of Peter and Walter Williamson. David was a councillor for Canarvan Township and Peter served as Councillor and then Reeve from 1949-1959 with another year as Councillor 1965-1966.

Wallace is also in my family tree. I have a Gilbert Wallace who is my first cousin three times removed by marriage. Also mentioned is: Diana, Janette, Keith, Linda, Margaret, Sheli and William. I have no dates with the exception of Margaret. She was born in 1844 in Scotland, died 19 May, 1925. I am related by way of Jane Rutheford whos mother was Jannet Williamson. Whe was my great grand aunt, daughter of James Williamson and Anne Calder. There was a branch of Williamsons that settled on Manitoulin. It would be Jannet Williamson's brother David Williamson. I am not sure if any of the family followed him there.
