Starkey King - born 1818 found on the US Census in JOnes County

1840 & 1850 - Tuckahoe District

I have no proof, but I suspect his father was George, perhaps brother to Felix

1860 he was in Johnston County.

In 1850:

Starkey King 30 Cooper
Ulela (?) 40
Ivey 11
Louis 9
Lucy 7
JOhn(?) 5
Sarah 3

This has been a brick wall for a long time - I'd sure apprecaite any help I can get!

Many thanks

Alix,

My great grandfathers' name was Ivey King. He was born Aug. 26, 1857 and died Oct. 19, 1935. He is buried at Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Jones County along with other family members including my grandfather and grandmother(Mary Ella King Smith).

Doug,
Do you have any idea of who Ivey King's parents were? He may relate back to mine.

Alix,

I have no idea. I only know of a few "King" relatives. My great grandparents; Ivey(1857-1935) & Mary Jane(1860--1929) King. My grandparents; Edward(1892-1957) & Mary Ella King(1900-1924) Smith. Mary Ella was the daughter of Ivey & Mary Jane King. The only other relative I am aware of is Arthur King. He was the older(?) brother of Mary Ella. I believe he died in the 1980's. All of the above relatives, with the exception of Arthur, are buried at Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Jones County, NC.

Below is the web address for the Pleasant Hill Christian Church Cemetery

The above family members are #'s 132-136.

Directly next to my families' plot are four additional Kings"(#'s 128-131). I do not know if these people are relatives of my great grandfather Ivey King. In addition these people are not enclosed in the barrier that surrounds our families' five grave sites.

My Grandmothers mother was Nora King from Jones County which was the Daughter of Ivey King. I haven't started working that branch of family but I will definatly pass on any information I can find, it looks as though there is plenty of information on them in ancestry looking through the connections though.

My great grandfather was Samuel King Jr from Jones County. He married Fannie Small also of Jones County. I think he had a brother named Ivey King...not 100% sure. I can't find any info that goes much farther back than Samuel King Jr's father, Samuel King Sr.
