Would like information on John T. Dudley, born Lincoln Co., Fayette, TN. Married Nancy M. Known child James L. Dudley born about 1804, GA,married Mary Polly Hendrick. I have much of their decendants info but would like to trace backward. I was told by distant relative that we may go back to Sir Robert Dudley. Any kin to your lines?

Dear Sheldon, I have traced my Dudley ancestors only back as far to late 1700's with John T. Dudley, born Lincoln Co., Fayette, Tn. Married Nancy M. Known child James L. Dudley born ca 1804. James L. lived and died in Madison, GA. I don't know how this information would help you, but if you want additional forward linage about this line, I would send to you. Per oral tradition this line may go back to Sir Robert Dudley, Queen Elizabeth's special friend. Let me know if you have any info you think may tie to my linage. Many thanks, Sandy Reid (Georgia)

Sandy,
Thank you for your reply. I can confirm that the "Dudley's" do trace back to Robert Dudley of Elizabethan fame. My research has shown 99.9% English lineage, but I know there is an American link via Ireland. More information on this subject as and when I can find it. I regret that there are a lot of skeletons in the Dudley cupboard. Best wishes.
