I have found references to Jozwiaks in the village of Granne, Bielsk Podlaski near Bialystok going back to 1710 of which I am descended. Parish records are in latin until late 1890s and are quite easy to read, after that they are in russian.

There are many Jozwiaks buried in the cemetery at Granne, I will do further research on these in the future.

If I can be of any assistance please send an email.

John, would you happen to have a JOZWIAK genealogy which you would be willing to share? I've been looking for information on my great grandfather for many years and can't seem to get to first base. His name was FRANK YUZWIAK, (which I believe is the Russian spelling?) and was supposed to have been born 1866 in Poznan. Believe he came to US about 1880-ish. His name may also be FRANCIS, I guess but the family knew him as Frank. Can you offer any assistance? Thank you. - Elaine

I found my great grandmother came to the US thru Ellis Island in 1911. It lists her last place of residence as Roslopy, Russia but she is of Polish decent. I can not find anything on this town. Do you have some suggestions on how to find this town? And how do I trace down her parents? I have no information at all on them.
I would appreciate your help so much. I am at a complete lost trying to do this. It is my fathers family and there is nobody for me to ask questions so everything I find out has been some what of a small miracle.

Thank you again,

I receive the e-newsletter called "Gen Dobry". It is about Polish genealogy. In the latest edition, it discussed how to find cities where the name may have changed. The website is
