I am hoping someone is familiar with the surname Durian, Huguenot ancestors who fled from France to the Netherlands and became rooted in that country before emigrating to the U.S. The ancestors in question are Matthew Durian, and his son Dirk Jan durian, who married Tina Tillema in Dec. 1947 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA. Information on either name is requested and will be appreciated. I am particularly interested in discovering where in the Netherlands the Durians emigrated from. Thanks. Maggie
My family is dutch, from the netherlands..
and with the Durian last name..
maybe somewhere down the line there is a relation?
I have heard about that, and of Alsace Lorraine Durians. But, I am working on a Stuttgart line that goes back to the 1600s.

I have heard of this family. One such person is in the Michigan Bar Journal, I believe, Susan Durian.
I too am a Michigan Durian, but my family is from Stuttgart area.
Do you know if they were Armenians or Germans before moving to France? Are they connected to the German Durians to your knowledge. It's interesting becuase Durians were in Germany since 1600, but it's not a German name.
