Can someone please give me directions for the Embrey/Embry Cemetary located out from Caneyville, Ky in Grayson Co. Has been there since very early 1900.
I will be coming from Louisville.
My great grandparents, grandparents, and many many family members are burried there. I know my Aunt was burried there in 1996
Thank you,
Sue

Perhaps you might contact the Grayson County Historical Society who published 3 cemetery books for the county. Their number is 270-230-8989.
I was over in that part of the county just today taking pictures of some of the old churches in the county for a history project that I am completing for a class at Western Kentucky University. I visited several of the churches in Caneyville, and one at Walnut Grove just outside of town. I I just now looked on the map and I did find a road on the east side of 79 which is labeled as the Embry-Frank Cemetery Road. This is north of Caneyville on Highway 79, turn right onto Watershed Road, and travel a few miles and this Embry-Frank road is on the right. The symbol for a cemetery is shown on this road shortly after turning onto it. I have only been out this road one time in my life and I am not that familiar with it. I do not have the cemetery book #1 that would have this cemetery listed in it. I did find the phone number for a Mr. Walton Embry who lives on this road. It is 270-879-3106.
I found a couple of cemeteries in the Cemetery book #2 that went by Embry Cemetery. One was called the Wes Embry cemetery and is apparently located on the Bates-Dog Creek Road off Highway 62 west of Caneyville. There are quite a few Embrys listed for this cemetery. Another is called the Anthony Embry Cemetery and it appears to be in the same general area. Both of these cemeteries apparently are close to the Western Kentucky Parkway.
I hope this information may be useful to you in finding the cemetery.

As a followup to Barry's information, here is a link to a large State Highway Department Grayson County Map (678 KB) dated 1990:

The Embry-Frank Cemetery Road seems to be labeled CR 429 (County Road).

I need help. My great grandfather was Issac Patrick Willoughby who married Sally Ann Embry. They lived near Neafus. She died in 1917 and he died around 1900. I have searched for many years and I am unable to find their graves. Some say that she is buried in Ohio Co and he is buried near Neafus. I have visited many Cem without luck. If you know or can help me please do. Thank you.
