I am hoping for information on Mary Josephine Hayes b. abt 1806 in Louisiana, and, d. 2 Jan 1871 in San Gabriel, Milam Co. Texas. She married John Fulcher in 1824. It is also possible that she was married to a Samuel Robinson/Robertson before that. I have seen reference to her being the Daughter of Bosman Hayes. But anything I have run across regarding him does not mention having a daughter named MJ. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Bobby,

I don't have a whole lot of information on the Hayes family, but I am happy to share with you what I do have, since Bosman Hayes is included.

From World Family Tree CD, V. 5, #1179
The following from Southwest Louisiana Records by Rev. Donald J. Hebert
William Hayes I b. Abt. 1700, Marlborough, Witts Co., England, died Bef. 1750, m. February 19, 1725/26 Chester, London Grove, PA, Jane Elizabeth James, b. September 28, 1707, Chester, PA. Her parents are not listed.

Their son, William Hayes II was born Abt. 1730 in Halifax, PA, died 1828 Branch, LA (Pointe de L'Englise. p. 74). He married (date unknown) Sarah Celeste Bosman, d/o Thomas and Mary Bosman. Sarah was born March 24, 1720/21 in St. Peters Parish, Talbot, MD.

From Southwest Louisiana Records by REv. Donald J. Hebert:
Children of William Hayes, II and Sarah Celeste Bosman:

BOSMAN's Succ. #471 was filed in St. Landry Parish Court House in June 1828.
Note: His Succ. should tell you if he is indeed the father of your Mary Josephine Hayes.

I have one child listed for Bosman Hayes and Jane Forman:

Lucy Hayes married February 15, 1809 in St. Landry Parish Court House, Mar. #10, (#1) James D. Reeves; Lucy m. November 03, 1828 in St. Landry Parish Court House, Mar. #75 (#2) David simmons.

Bosman Hayes m. (date unknown) #2 Martha Ivy. Her parents are not listed.

I have two children listed for Bosman Hayes and Martha Ivy:

(1) Mary Hayes m. October 27, 1800 in St. Landry Catholic Church - Protestant Marriages 1787-1830, p. 7, John Lyons.

(2) Sarah Hayes m. October 26, 1800 in St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, LA - Protestant Marriages 1787-1830, p. 8, Philip Winfre.

I do not have a connection to this family. From my source notes I see that I shared this information with two individuals:

Some of my Stantons lived in the San Gabriel area and one of them married a Fulcher. I am searching for the family of Eglantine Robertson who married John H. McClelland from Calcaseau Parrish, LA. I have found Sarah Eglantine Hayes who married Jesse Clark. If any of these names are in your search, maybe we can share.

My cousin and I have spent a lot of time on Bosman Hayes family. We have found that Bosman was married 1st to Martha Ivey (not second), then to Jane Forman. His two eldest children are by Martha Ivey. We are presently in D.C. researching at the DAR Library and have been here for the past week. Most of our time has been spent in the SW LA section researching this family, and this is what we are still finding. We are searching for some Revolutionary War service for Bosman or his father, William, but we haven't found it. Looked at the Galvez Expedition today to see if he served in that, but couldn't find him there.
