WHITESVILLE Map

WHITESVILLE Map

Classification: Query
Surnames: EVANS, WELLS, WESTERFIELD
According to a pre-1900 Whitesville property map, my g-grandfather Benjamin F. EVANS owned a piece of property in the center of town. It was located on the south-side of Main Street, about half-way between Cross-Main & Franklin Street. It was beside a large plot of property owned by a Bartlett.
It might be residential, but doubtful. Would anyone happen to know what type of property it was, commercial or residential? I'd be grateful for any info. Thanks, in advance.

I don't see Benjamin F. Evans mentioned in the book, but in "The History of Whitesville, Kentucky" (copyright 1982 by Anna Hamilton and Don Greenwell, McDowell Publications), on page 90, it says...
"The building in Whitesville did not stop during the war or after the fire burned the greater part of the business houses in Whitesville. Between 1910-1920, there were three big, beautiful homes built. The Evans home was on Main Street across from Rowland's Grocery."
