1836 CENSUS of the MIXED-BLOOD INDIANS of MICHIGAN

Surnames: Martin
Just wondering if anyone could tell me where I could find the actual census microfilm. I have seen the index of names and I've even seen a couple pages. I would like to find the entire census since surname's other than Martin would apply to my family tree.
Also, I have the Durant roll book by Raymond Lantz and can do lookups if anyone requires.

This list has been microfilmed by the LDS (Mormons), but I understand it is missing a page, also it is a little unclear in some cases. They have a good copy up at the library in either St. Ignace or Mackinaw City. What names are you interested in?

A mircofilm copy of the original 1836 mixed-blood census along with the report of J.W. Edmonds is available from the National Archives. It is in microfilm series M574, Special Files of the Office of Indian Affairs, 1807-1904, Roll 23, frames 596-636. I have this mircofilm and will be glad to look up names for anyone.

This census pertains to only those mixed-blood Ottawas and Chippewas who were parties to the 1836 Michigan treaty. This treaty ceded lands in the western lower peninsula of Michigan and the eastern half of the upper peninsula of Michigan.

I am doing research on claims made by Franklin Bearce who was born and lived in Allegan MI. Does this mixed-blood census pertain to ALL mixed-blood native americans or just descendants of Michigan tribes? Although Bearce was born in Mi, his claims have to do with New England tribes. Thanks
