Is anyone researching the siblings of Amos Bennett who came from Scotland and settled in Locke, NY? Has an;yone researched his siblings and their families? Has anyone researched the families of Amos's children, the ones born in the 1760s and 1770s, having come to America with their father. So far, I have found only one line that has been followed. Any help would be appreciated,

Who were Amos's children? I am researching Bennetts in Locke, NY. I'm particularly interested in a Nathan Bennett family that was in Locke in 1820.

The history is in Genealogical & Family History of Western New York by William Richard Cutter. It flows down thru one son in each generation. Therefore, there is no info on the families of the other siblings or the children other than Amos Jr.

Hope this helps. Should you find any more info, please let me know.

My ggfather was Amos L. Bennett (dob 1869). His father was Albert P. Bennett (dob 1840). I believe Albert's father was Amos Bennett also. They are from Hanover, NY. Could these be in your line of Bennett's?

Do you know what the L stands for in Amos L? Have you been able to get back any further to find out Amos's DOB or parents? There are Amos names in almost every generation.

I don't know what the L. stands for. But his date of birth was 1869. His parents were Albert P. Bennett (dob 1840)and Mary E. Bennett (dob 1837). He had two brothers Byron A. (dob 1871) and Philo O. (dob 1872). I know that Philo died as a child, but I have no idea about Byron. I just found out about him and haven't had time to try to research it yet.

I have a memory of an Amos Bennett from Scotland who immigrated specifically to work the iron ore between Warwick NY and the Hudson river. I think I read this in the Goshen NY genealogical library. Amos also existed in the James Bennett/Hannah Wheeler descendancy, but not related to the Scot.
