Hi,

My family and I have been trying to find out the origins of James Rainbow of Meppershall, born approximatly 1757. There is now, on Familysearch.com, a record of a James Rainbow, but no origin - so we can only assume it's him.

This is an appeal for information on him - he is my GGGGG grandfather and I would love to know where he came from.

He's my GGGGG Grandfather too and I've never managed to work out where he came from. There is a tantalising mention in the Poor Law records of a James Rainbow being removed to his parish of origin (Radwell in Herts) at about the right time to potentially be our forebear reduced to a doddery and indigent state (I transcribed it and can look it up if you want) but I haven't yet checked out the Radwell parish registers to see if his birth is recorded (and it's not on the IGI).

I assume you're Sally Tassie's son? You're on my database.... Big Brother is everywhere!

I do have Mary Walsom's forebears going back a while, but I've already given those to your mother!

I too have James Rainbow and Mary Walsom as 5G Grandparents and are stuck at James, I have the Walsoms back to Thomas in 1685.
I would like to swap decendant lines.
Richard, I think you have met my sister Janet, you work at the same university.

Hi Folks, I have James Rainbow in my Harris tree as well. His parents were William Rainbow(b1735) and Mary Harlow (b 1735). At least that is what I have found!

Do you have a source for that, Linda? I've seen that link suggested on the web elsewhere, but never with sources attached.

I believe it is from a tree on ancestry.ca
