Seeking info on three Rumbaughs that married into my relations - I know nothing of the Rumbaughs. Adam married Elizabeth Lauffer about 1800; Mary Ann married Peter Fox 8/6/1840; and John married Hannah Elizabeth Fox about 1850. Would appreciate any info/leads. Thanx.

I have some extensive information on the Rumbaugh's from Pa. including Westmoreland Co. This info goes back to the original 3 brothers from Germany in 1764. I'd be glad to share.

Am assuming family originated in Westmoreland Co., do you have anything on a William Rumbaugh married to Elizabeth Shaffer? They had sons Silas/Cyrus (have obit and he's Silas, but on Genealogy sites comes up as Cyrus) and Henry and possibly daughter Elizabeth married to a Fulmer. Would you have any info on them? Thank you

John and Rod
I read with interest John's question in the Roots Web site regarding Early Rumbaughs in OH. Adam Rumbaugh married to Elizabeth Lauffer lived on the same road in Chester Twp, Wayne county OH in the 1820- 1830s as my 3rd great grandparents Jacob and Margaret Trostel Markel. Also my other 3rd great grandparents Frederick and Elizabeth Howman lived across the same road from Adam Rumbaugh.
Jacob Markel's son Solomon married Hannah Howman, Frederick Howman's daughter. Jacob and Margaret came to Wayne Co from East HuntingtonTwp Westmoreland Co PA in 1825.
The Markels, Howmans and Rumbaughs had several dealing including guardianships of children. We have wondered if there is a closer relationship connection any of these families.
The History of Wayne Co Ohio by Douglas 1878 says Adam Rumbaugh ws born April 22, 1793 in Northampton county PA . He died in 1870 Wayne Co. Would be interested in any information you might have and will be glad to exchange info that we have.
Sincerely, Jim and Irma Markel

I have the histor of three brother that came from Germany in 1764. Was John Henry, David and Solomaon and settled in Connecticut. After the Revolutionaary War, John Henry moved to North Hampton County, Pa. 1797 he moved to Westmoreland County, Pa. where he had farmed extensively. He had 19 sons and 6 daughters. John Henry would be my 5th Great Grandfather. His son David to his first wife, born 1770 would be my 4th Great. If it sounds a little like your story get in touch.
