Meaning of "removed from city" in 1894 Woonsocket, RI, USA Directory

I was going throught city directories for my ancestor in Woonsocket, RI. In 1894, it stated he was "removed from city". Is this just a way of saying he relocated or left? Or something a little more "telling".
I know he married a second wife that same year in New Haven CT.

I believe it just means he moved. Sometimes it will tell you where they moved to as in "Removed to Hartford"
