I have some knowledge of William Symington; but more about his parents (Thomas and Isabella) from Galashiels Scotland who came to Ontario in 1832. If this is the same family, your William had siblings Mary, Robert, George, James, Thomas, Alexander, Ellen. PLease contact me if this applies to your search as I have some interesting Symington information to share. My William shows as dying in Sarnia??

Shawn, I tried communicating privately but your messages bounced.
Last April you and I were communicating re Phelps Symington, and his parents.
I have in the meantime been able to identify Sarah Coffy (Smith) Symington's parents as Norman Phelps Smith, probably born in the US and Margaret Coffy probably born in Ireland and have some strong leads pertaining to their ancestry. I have found also some information on Sarah's siblings, two others of which, besides my gggrandmother were in Lambton Co. in 1871 - William and Joseph. I would be interested in learning more about their families.
Since Thomas Symington's wife Margaret Smith also seemed to have been born in US, it will be interesting to find if there is a connection.
If you are interested in any of this information on the Smith's let me know.

In reviewing your past communications, I note you are also hunting McGregor. I have a mysterious Henry McGregor, aged 29, from Bosanquet, C.W. who married in St. Clair Co., MI on 20 Sep 1861 Elizabeth Davidson, 19, of Bosanquet, witnessed by Joseph Ferguson & Mary Davidson of C.W. , performed by Asa Larned, J.P.
By 1871 census she is listed as a widow in her mother's household in Bosanquet, with the following children; Johny - 8, James - 6, George - 4, Elizabeth - 2. So far, I have found no record of his death. They may have lived in the Fergus area because she had relatives there and later remarried James Park from that area and they moved out west, eventually settling in Minburn, Alberta.
I was wondering if you had ever come across any of this group in your research on McGregors.

Grasping at straws,
Dorothy Dahm

I too, seem to be related to these people

I am also related to these Symington's. My mom is Joyce Elizabeth (Ferris), her mom Marianne Jean (Blair), her mom Kate McMillan (Symington) her dad William Symington, his dad Thomas Symington whose dad was Thomas Symington, who was married to Isabella. I would appreciate any information you may have on Thomas and Isabella, and any of the other Symingtons and I would be willing to share any information that I have that may interest you.

Brenda,
Do you have information on the family of Robert Symington and Sarah Coffey Smith (sister of my ggrandmother - Hannah (Smith) Evans? Robert, I believe is a brother of your William.
I am also trying to track down James and Maria"Misey" (Cook) McMillan, parents of Janet McMillan married to my ggrandfather John Watson. Would your grandmother be any connection?
I will gladly exchange the little bit of info I have.
Dorothy

I know this was an old message, but I am just now finding it. I am trying to find some information on a Thomas Symington who married Amelia D. McLean Dec. 25, 1883 in Lambton Co. (I think). They were from Lambton Co. I would really like to find information on their descendants.

Eliza Lunam was indeed a daughter of David Lunam and Ann Cairns. She was born 3 Oct 1840 at Stitchel, Roxburgh, Scotland. I have no information at present re her marriage, but will let you know if I discover anything.

Regards,

John.

The information I have on Eliza Lunam is that she was born on Sepember 4, 1839 in Facit Hill Stitchel Berwickshire, Scotland. I don't know if my information is wrong or if there is a possiblity that there are 2 Eliza Lunams? It seems strange that the parents are Ann Cairns and David Lunam. I wonder whose information is correct. Do you have anything that could help?
