In response to your quest for information about the Rylee family of Banks County, GA. I am a direct decendent of that family. My mother was Helon Francine Rylee daught of Leon and Fannie Rylee. Evelyn Rylee my great aunt was a school teacher in Commerce, Georgia she never married. My grandfather (Leon Rylee) had three children (one died at one year old [abt]). The survirors are my mother as mentioned above and my Uncle James. Both are still living. Uncle James lives in Commerce with his wife Burnell Rylee (she is also his first cousin). They had four children Larry, Gladene, Brenda and Ronald. And they subsequently have many chidren and grandchildren. Larry died two years ago but the rest are still living. Fannie Rylee died when my mother was 9 years old after a appendectimy (sp?) and my grandfather died in 1967 one year after Aunt Evelyn (his sister) died. There is alot of family still around and my relatives have a lot of infomration. Please contact me if you are interested in any more information. By the way my mother had four children and three of us are married and have children.

I too am descended from Sarah and John Frank Rylee and I have run into a brick wall with my research. I think they were married in Alcorn MS in 1847, but I cannot find them on the census for MS in 1850 (or in 1840) so he may well have been from GA. I live very close to the national Archives here in Washington D.C. and I will go look for them in Georgia. If you have any other information by now, I would greatly appreciate it, and I will share all I can find. Many thanks, Sarah

Sarah, I thought I had responded before. Yet I don't see my message, so here goes.

My great great grandparents John Frank Rylee and Sarah J. Blythe were married 16 Sep 1847 in Tishmingo Co., MS. I have a certified copy of their marriage certificate.

John and Sarah were on the 1850 Tishmingo Co., MS Census with their first child William J. Rylee (my great grandfather). He was born 20 Aug 1849 in Tishmingo Co., MS. On the Census they were next to Y.J. Rylee and his family. Their names were misspelled as Riley. There was also a William Rylee listed that was the correct age to be John Frank and Y.J. Rylee father. I'm not sure if it is or not, but back then the families usually moved together. John Frank and Y.J. Rylee birth place was listed as GA. William's wife birth place was GA. I believe Williams was listed as S.C.

If you can get any info on William (elder) and his wife Mary A. I would appreciate it.

Sincerely, Sandy
