Stepheni, My grandfather was Fred Newton Burnett born July 22, 1893, died Dec. 16, 1955 who married Helen Crawford whose mother was Mary Catherine Henson. Fred's death cert. lists his father as Bill Burnett and my info ends there on the Burnett's but my Henson info goes back to 1730. I also have copies of the 1910 census for Haywood Co. which lists two separate Henson families. If any of this sounds like it will help you let me know and I will be delighted to help. Fred

Surnames: HENSON, INMAN, PRESSLEY
My HENSON ancestor was Margaret HENSON, daughter of Nathan HENSON and Catherine PRESSLEY as best I have been able to ascertain. Margaret may/may not have been married to William Pinkney INMAN of the Haywood County INMAN's. She did bear him a daughter, Willie Ida INMAN, born in August of 1864, shortly before he was killed on Big Stomp. Willie Ida INMAN was my Great-grandmother. Are either of you or is anyone else out there familiar with this HENSON family? I would love to know more about Margaret's family. Thank you.

Fred,

I have a Martha Jane "Mattie" Grogan who married Marion Turner Henson about 1867 and they were in Haywood County, North Carolina. Martha Jane Grogan had a sister named Sarah "Sally" Grogan who married Ira Lafayette Henson. The Grogan sisters were the children of Henry Grogan and Edna Harkins.

Henry Grogan was married again about 1868 to Mary Elvira Williams and my great grandmother, Ruthie E."Polly" Grogan was a daughter of this marriage. Polly had two children out of wed-lock. The first child was James Henry Grogan who later used the last name Burnette. The second born was my grandfather, Chester Blane/Blain Grogan. I was always told by my aunts, uncles, and father, that the man who fathered the children was Turner Henson. It's possible that Turner Henson is the Marion Turner Henson that was also married to Polly's half-sister, Martha Jane "Mattie" Grogan. I however, half no proof as to the father of Polly's first children. Polly also had a sister named Zora Rachel Grogan who married William Bergin Pressley.

Polly married James Kennedy "Jim" Burnette around 1900 and they had many children together. They are both buried at Rosemont Cemetery in Clinton, South Carolina. According to the death certificate for Jim Burnette, he was the son of David Burnette and Lucinda. His birthplace was Hayward County, NC (which should have been Haywood) on 27 Feb 1880. He died in Greenville, South Carolina during an extended hospital stay. He was residing in Cross Hill, Laurens County, South Carolina at the time of his death. Jim was married again after Polly died and had more children with his second wife.

I would love to share information with you.
Sincerely,
Stepheni

I am sorry to say that I don't have any of those people listed in my files at this point. I'm sure we are related. I have both Henson and Pressley in my tree from that area.

Do you happen to know where they might be buried and are you from this area?

Good Luck with your searches.
