I'm trying to find out information about my great grandfather Peter Joseph Arteman who was born anywhere between 1870-1876. I'm also trying to find out informations about Jake and Benjamin Arteman who were my greatgrandfather's brothers. Thank you.

I have the papers that Neva Arteman did as I am a grandaughter of Jake Arteman. I belong to Clarence Arteman whose mother was Lydia Falkingham Arteman Debauche.

Barbara,

Thank you for sending me the message! I have heard of Neva, but not much about her. My grandfather is Charles Arteman and grandmother is Viola Arteman. I have been searching information of the Arteman family for months, which is interesting. I don't know much about my great grandfather Peter Joseph Arteman, and I don't know anything about your grandfather Jake, who is Peter's brother, if I remember correctly. I remember hearing your father's name Clarence, but it was so long ago. My father is Ronald Arteman, who has passed on almost 7 years ago. Do you know any of the one's I have mentioned here? I'm really interested in finding out about my great grandfather, but I've yet to know that much still. Thanks again for sending me the message, it was great hearing from you. Is the papers Neva did, a family tree type papers? I have never heard of your grandmother Lydia Falkingham Arteman Debauche. Did any of them live in Illinois by any chance. Sorry for hopping around here, but whenever I get information, I get a little carried away and excite...smiling.....

Cathy

My father was also named Ronald Arteman. He died in June of 1989 and my grandmother Mayme Arteman died the same month in the same year. Sometime I will tell you the story. I just helped my mother post a message on this board(Betty Arrteman) Charlie and Vi are my dad's aunt and uncle and my mother remembers Sharon from when she was a little girl and they went to visit in Illinois. Are you Sharon's sister? Peter Arteman would be my great grandfather and my grandmother Mayme was quite the historian. However, she has passed away and in the annuls of our home we may have more family records. Only time will tell and I will let you know what we uncover. IMy mother knew Jim and Loretta, Joe and Mary, Bill and his wife. Please resopond to either myself or my mother. Thank you!

Hi Mary,

Thank you for sending me the message you did! Sharon is my aunt, and her brother Ronald is my father. Jim and Loretta was my God parents, and if I remember correctly they both died. Joe, Bill, Mable, John, Alice..etc. are my great aunts and uncles. My grandparents are Charles and Viola Arteman. My grandmother just turned 90 in June. I didn't know there was more then one Ronald in our family...smiling....I don't recall hearing about your mom Betty, how is she related to my father and grandfather? The name Mayme seems familiar to me, but I haven't heard much about her. I'm not sure but maybe your mom remember my mom Shirley, who passed away 2 years ago in the month of December. My father passed away in July of 1995. I know a lot of the Arteman's live in the same town as me, and around the small towns close by. Those are the ones I have met at one time or another. I know the Arteman family is big, just how big I don't know. Does your mom know Dixie which is Bill's wife? She passed away, and she is the one that made our family tree book, which I don't have, but I hope to get one some how.

Thanks again for replying, and take care.

Cathy

Yes, my mom remebers Dixie, Bill and their son Merle. We were in Illinois and met everyone and then they came out here and stayed at our house. My dad has a brother Bill Arteman who lives in Illinois right now. He is dying of cancer right now. He has 6 children who all live in the Wisconsin, Illinois area. There are three kids in my family Tony and I live in SD and Shawna lives in Ohio. My grandfather Edwin was a brother to Charlie, Jim, Joe, John, Bill, Mabel, Alice and Margarite. My dad Ron and your dad Ron would have been 1st cousin and were the same age.

Sharon,

I am researching my sister's husband's family tree for her, specifically the Arteman side... I have some info, but it is sketchy...

Her husband is a Dyer (Central Illinois), and his late mother's maiden name was Lena Earlene Arteman (she went by Earlene).
Her father was Earl F. Arteman, and her mother I have nothing on...
Earl F. was the son of Benjamin Franklin Arteman (m. Lena Christena Bauer), who was the son of Louis Harvey Arteman (m. Bernadine?)...
Benjamin Franklin Arteman had children Earl, Elmer, Neva, Roy and Ada.
I have no information on Earl's wife, or children, except for daughter (Lena) Earlene Arteman (who married a (Living) Dyer). Earlene passed away in 1987...
Any help with this line would be most appreciated!

Hope you still visit this board, Sharon?

Anyone else here know more about Louis Harvey ... Benjamin Franklin ... Earl F. ... Artemans?

Anything on Earl's wife, maiden name Lena Christena Bauer, would be helpful, too. I have that Lena's parents were Claus Bauer and Eliza Hackens, that's all...

Thanks,
Shea
