In my limited experience, there appears to be several Bly families that are not related. There is a group in Vermont,
I don't know where they fit in. There is a Massachusetts group, descending from John Bly the Salem brickmaker. There are two groups in
Rhode Island, One from North Kingston descending from Jonathan Bly, and the other in Kent Co, Voluntown, CT descending from Benjamin Bly.
There is a group from Virginia, that is from Germany.
And finally there are Southern South Carolina Blys. The trick is to figure out which group you are descended from. Hope this helps.

Do you know where in New York Lewis was born?
This would be a great clue. We have quite a few Lewis Bly in the
Benjamin and Joanna (Carr) Bly family. Right offhand, I can't place
anyone of them who moved to Iowa. We did have family members that
traveled in that direction. You can also reply to me at pitts488@pdq.net
for faster response.

We had a great-great grandmother, Lucinda Bly, who was born in Boone , North Carolina in 1832. She was Cherokee Indian. Do you have any information on that Bly family?

Hello Wendy. I have a book that my cousin compiled, and it listed the above under the descendants of William and Nancy Blythe. Lucinda is listed under the 1851 Drennen Rolls of the Cherokee Indian Court of Claims, group #920 listed William Blythe, Jr., martha, William Riley, Ellis, Nancy Ann, Lucinda, Mary, Sarah, and John. Hope this helps!!
