My father was Walter Dutko and was raised in Glitzen (sp) PA. with brothers and sisters scattered through the area, i.e. Altoona, Cresson, etc. He married Alice (Zielinski) and spent the remainder of his life in Buffalo, New York where he raised four children. I remember visiting relatives in Youngstown, Ohio and remember one of Walter's brother's (John-we called him Yantze) marrying a woman from Hawaii and living in the PA area in the general area of Katherine (single), Edward (single), Pauline (Tony), Sophie (John Malko), Anne (John), Lois (Louis), and Salty (nick name). Does anyone have any connection with any of them?

Yes, I know your father...my mother is Sophie, his sister, living in Pittsburgh. (Your dad was one of my favorite relatives and I remember him very well, although I didn't have any contact with him from the time I was in my teens...many years ago).

By my records, Walter and Sophia's parents were Louis Dutko and Ernestine Coanshock/Konicsak. My gr-grandmother was Ernestine's sister, Emilia/Amelia, who married Karol Pavlak in Gallitzin, PA in 1909. I would be very interested to share information on the Konicsak/Coanshock's and Pavlak/Pavlock's.

Thanks for your posting. I'm Sophie Dutko Malko's son, now living in semi retirement in Italy. Sophie is doing well at 84 and living in Pittsburgh with the rest of my family. I'm interested in the family tree and would like more information should you have any to share.

I've been able to trace some of my father's family to southern Poland and have made two trips there some years ago. His name was John Malko, although I believe the original family name was Malkuch. It was an interesting experience and I was happy to find more details of their backgrounds.

Unfortunately, I did not see your post (Bob Malko) until today (May 7, 2008). I do have some information from my mother, Alice (Zielinski) Dutko, who passed on several years ago. I would be glad to share it with you. Please repost so I know you are still connected to the site.
