Hello. I would like to know whether I have got any far out relatives somewhere in the world. I haven't done any investigations yet, but maybe by coincidence somebody here might have found out somthing. My grandfather was Heinz Eiffert, he came from Frankfurt/Hessen (Germany) and was born about 1910-1920. If anybody can trace his family to him, I would be very interested to hear about that. Regards, Jan Eiffert (Denmark)

Hello Jan,

I saw your 2003 message on Ancestry message board re the Eiffert family. You said your grandfather came from Frankfurt, Germany? My great grandfather came from Franfurt too, but he was born about 1826. I am trying to find out more about him, but it is very difficult as he left Germany and came to England. I wondered if any of 'your Eifferts' may have known him or any of his brothers. There were Adam (my great-grandfather), George, another Adam (shown as having been born about 1821), Elizabeth, and a few others. I understand my g-grandfather worked in a Pottery in his homeland, but they all came to England as musicians and they brought a dancing bear with them. He lived in Kent, England, and worked as a Pottery labourer. I would like to know more about him, and it would be good if any of your ancestors knew of any of this side of the family, especially coming from the same area in Germany. Hope you will reply back.

Dear Charles,

I am not quite sure whether we are referring to the same person.

I am trying to locate an old friend by the name Heinz Horst Eiffert who I first met in early 70s, when he used to be a demo pilot for Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm a helicopter manufacturing company based in München.

We have had nice times togheter both in München, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo and at that time he was dating a Canadian girl whose name I do not recall anymore.

Since I am today 61 years old and Heinz was about 15 years older then me, I reckon that he must be today around 75.

I would like very much to get in touch with him again and if you have any information about his whereabouts, please be kind enough to let me know.

Thank you very much in advance,

Gui Leal

Dear Gui,

I am also 61 years old, and I am the Canadian girlfriend that you mentioned in your letter. Heinz was 15 years older than me. I left Canada to live in the Bahamas in 1969. Heinz wanted to join me there, but I wasn't ready for that kind of commitment. In Toronto, he was the manager of Cessna airlines. He then got involved in a plot against Papa Doc in Haiti. That gave me the creeps. I heard his plane was shot down by the Cubans. Next I heard from him, he was in Sao Paulo. I moved from the Bahamas to Karlsruhe, Germany. I was there the same time he was, but I didn't know it.
I sent Charles, his son, pictures, and he said it was his father, so it must be the same person you knew as well. Where do you live? I am back in Canada. I haven't heard from Heinz, but it would be fun to exchange some information.
My email address is bkalman@mac.com.
I'd love to hear from you, Bobbie
