My Father's family has no records of my Grandfather's family beyond him. We know he was born in upstate NY around 1880-85. Any help would be appreciated.

I have Funnell ancestors who were from Sussex County, England and settled in Varick Township, Seneca County, New York in 1866. My gr-gr-gr-grandfather was named Benjamin Funnell, but I believe there was a John Funnell who lived there also. Possibly John and Benjamin were brothers. Please contact me by e-mail at galehous@msu.edu, if you'd like additional information.

Hi Mal,

I've n idea where my grandparents come from. We seem to have hit a brick wall two generations back. Can't get any farther back than upstate New York in the late 1800s.

Hi Mal,

Sorry to hear about the heart attack. Oddly enough, none of the Funnells in my family tree have lived long enough to retire. Every male has died of heart failure. I sure hope your recovery is going well.

No idea about the great-grandparents, but my Grandfather was John Funnell of Buffalo, married to Mary Anderson Funnell, also of Buffalo. Approximate date of birth is 1885. I hope this meager amount of information is helpful.

~Jim

Saw your posting, Mal, and these are the names in my husband's family. His grandmother was Sarah A Funnell, daughter of James Funnell and his second wife Mary Anne Leach. Would love to hear from you.
Cheers
Kris

HI there, My gt gt gt gt Grandfather was John Funnell married Sarah. His grandson Charles Funnell m Mary Bashford 1869. These Funnells we know are from Sussex and Surrey England, going back into the 1700's. I have bits and pieces I am trying to put together but I know theres a Benjamin there somewhere up the line too. Charles migrated to New Zealand in 1873 and had a total of 14 children, 3 of which were left in England? Anyway if anyone wants to stay in contact to marry up the trees somewhere along the line, I will have Robert Nelson/Nealson Funnell's family tree. I want to go back further than that. Apparently all the Funnells are related and go back to Bask the border between Spain and France. Any information on this would be appreciated too. Thanks Lisa
