I am looking for anyone who can give me information on my Gaddis family. My grandfather was Jessie James Gaddis. He died and and is buried in Norman, OK. I think his father's name is Jack or Billy Jack Gaddis. I know they lived in OK. Jessie married Alta Mae Mitchell and they had seven children. Let me know if there are any of you Gaddis' out there!

I don't think I have a true connection for you. None of the folks you mention fit into my current files. However, I do know of a branch of my GADDIS family that ended up in Oklahoma. Is Depew, Creek County, OK anywhere near Norman, OK? The only reason I ask is that I have a Jesse (which most folks would pronounce Jessie) Roy GADDIS in my files. He died in Depew, Oklahoma. It might also be helpful to know what time frame you're working with. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help or if you think there might be some connection.

Saw your posting on the relative who died in Depew, Ok.
Live nearby. Did you find the information you needed on them? If no, please let me know and I will try and find it for you as I live only 10 minutes from there. Also, Depew is about 60-80 miles SE of Norman. Very small
rural community of about 200.

You mentioned you were looking for information on your ancestor, Jesse James Gaddis. My G-Grandmother's brother was James Gaddis and my G-Grandfather's brother was Jessie Gaddis. They were born in North Carolina and listed on the Randolph C. 1850 1860 Censuses. Their father and mother were Silas Lucinda Gaddis. Do you have information as to who Jesse James Gaddis' brothers and sisters were or where his mother and father were born? I have more Gaddis information I can share if you think there may be a connection. SBH

I have poasted so many messages that I forget to go back and check for responses sometimes. Sorry I'm so late in responding. My grandfather, Jesse James Gaddis parents were Jack Gaddis and Matilda Castello. His siblings were Buck, Albert Frank, Monroe, Joel J., Hester, Carol and Moses. Any of these names sound familiar? They were all born in Atoka or Johnston County, OK. Jack was born in OK and his parents (names unknown) were born in AL.

My great grandfather's brother two years older than he was named Jesse Gaddis. This Jesse was born around 1825. This Jesse married a woman by the name of Winney. THe names of your Jesse's siblings don't sound familiar. Maybe our connection is further back. My Silas Gaddis is from Randolph County, North Carolina. Have you discovered ancestors further back than Jack, and is Jack his real name? SBH

It's very interesting that my grandfather's name is Jesse James Gaddis. I don't have any information further back than his father, Jack Gaddis (sometimes called Billy Jack). I know that Jack had been married before he married Matilda Castello, but don't know to whom. According to the census, his parents were supposed to have been born in AL, but who knows. I wonder if Jesse James could have been named after a great uncle and a grandfather? I'll keep digging at this end. I wish I knew the names of some of Jack's siblings, it might help.

My grandmother, Zena Mae Gaddis Hale, was the daughter of Jesse R. Gaddis and Mattie L. Reeder. My father, Robert R. Hale was born in Depew in 1925. He was Zena's son. Any connection?
