My name is Joseph. I am looking for members of my family. Most i have not seen in 35 years or more. It is a long story. My fathers name was Joseph Musiol. There was a problem that involved the spelling of his last name. I believe it wrong. i think it should be "ial" If anyone can shed some light on this matter i would be forever grateful. Hoping to hear from someone soon, Sincerely, Joseph Musiol

That would be cool. I know that I still have family that live in the Ukraine Aunts, Uncles, cousins, etc. I have never met them, but who knows how many of them have found their way to the U.S. I probably have a lot of family that I am unaware of. I know that my granfathers parents were born in Poland (but I am usure of what part) and my grandmothers parents were born in the Ukraine. I recently came across some old pictures of great cousins from the 1800's early 1900's that stayed behind in the Ukraine while my great gandparents ventured over to the U.S (Massachusetts) on the boat. I have often wondered to if I was related to Stan Musial. I am very interested in finding out more about my heritage. My grandmother has a copy of our family tree which I am trying to get a copy of. Talk to you later.

Stan Musial is my father's cousin. Stan's mother was Mary Musial, maiden name Lance, and the family lived near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, prior to Missouri. Mary's parents were John and Susan Lance, and it is my understanding that either they or their ancestors were from Austria. Does any of this sound familiar to you? If so, please let me know!!!

Hi, My name is Joe. I saw your post on Stan Musials family origin as being Austrian or Polish. My grandfather and grandmother arrived in this country about the turn of the 20th century. I have bo idea as to where they landed and am trying to find out now. I live in Rhode Island and i have been told that Stan visited this area in his youth to visit family. So far unable to verify. i would sure like to establish a repoir if you would like. I am researching my family and this line is giving me particular problems. Hoping to hear from you soon. Thank you

Hi Sue. Joe here. As to the spelling of the last name, i found information in the Providence Public Library, Providence Rhode Island that had the name originating in Poland or eastern Austria circa early 1300's. I also remember seeing something online dating the name back to the 1100's in the Rhine River area of Germany. From there the clans spread out to the east, into Austria and Poland among other countries of eastern Europe. Most variations of the name come from that original clan as far as can be ascertained. So i think you are correct when you say the two spellings are related. i believe they are too.I can be reachesd at if you would like to exchange more thought on this matter.

PS, or whatever,,haha. Referring to the spelling.
