I have some information which I found a year ago while searching for my grgrandfather, James Henry Powell, b. 1824. I took notes: notes:James Powell of Montgomery Co.(Missouri, I think) was son of William G. of Holland who had settled in Albermarle Co. VA James had a son Lewis G. who had a son, James who married Nancy Shelor of Germany and settled in Montgomery Co.in 1820.James had two bros.,Buck and Lewis Jr. James died and his widow, Nancy managed the farm (unusual in those days). She was a very capable woman. There were four children, John W.,James W., William L., and Thoms J. a prominent attny, lived in New Florence of Montgomery Co. (another note states that James G. Powell was of Holland, so you see,my notes are quite mixed up but I can give you my source of information) The book title is A History of Pioneer Families of Missouri, by Bryan and Rose..Page 286 gives a good deal of inf. I suggest you check with Interlibrary Loan through yourpublis library, or state library or a university library. The copy I used was in extremely bad condition. If you don't locate the book, let me know and I will see what I can do. Please email me and let know if you found the help you need. It is possible that my James Henry Powell and Thomas J. Powell were cousins. Thomas was son of James and Nancy. The message board is all new to me. I hope you get this message. Let me know at waltreta@austin.rr.com Hope we can help each other.

I believe that George Norman POWELL might be the father of my Elijah L. POWELL, b. in King William Co. Va. Married first to Amanda ROBINS. After her death he married Frances (Fannie)E. CATLETT. I just this week found my connection to this line and I would love to have contact with anyone with knoweldge of George Norman Powell and his descendants.
Thank You for your time.
