This will provide further explanation of Cindy Cialini's message. I was waiting to put this message up until I had obtained as much information as possible - but here goes.
I have Patrick J. Seery born March 14, 1844 in Ireland (County unknown). I believe he was probably born a few years earlier thsn that, however. From his death record, his father's name was listed as Henry J. His mother's name was not listed. I believe that he had at least two brothers: John and Thomas Lawrence. I believe this is the case because John and Thomas Lawrence acted as godfathers to two of his children in the US, and he named two of his children John and Thomas.

Patrick was naturalized in 1857 in the Court of Common Pleas in Philadelphia. He attested thast he was under 18 when he entered the US.

He married Ellen McDonald of Philadelphia in roughly 1868. They had several children:
Joseph: 1869 (only child bron in Phila; married O. Fisher and died Reading, PA)
Ellen 1872 (died in 1893 of consumption; single)
Richard 1874 (married Annie Miller of Coatesville, PA)
John
John 1876 (died single as salesman for Abbott's Dairies)
Mary 1879 (married McConaghy in Wilmington; housewife)
Thomas Lawrence 1884

Patrick and family moved to Wilmington, DE in 1870. He worked as a carriage upholsterer for McCabe Darragh.

Family is mostly buried in Cathedral Cemetery in Wilmington.

I welcome any information or assitance. I am descended from their son, Richard and his wife Annie Miller.

I am reasearching Susan Seery. Susan was born between 1838 and 1843. She married John Ulmer of Philadelphia. I believe she had a brother names John born about 1831 who married a woman by the first name Doreas who was born in Delaware. Both Susan Seery and John Seery were born in Ireland. John and his wife Dorea had at least two children by 1860, Thomas(aged 2) and John(ages 8 months). Any connection?

Almost definitely a match

I am certain we have a match!

John was married to a woman named Ann Elizabeth ("Lizzie") Barcus of Camden, Kent County, Delaware in 1856 and had at least nine children. But, I have seen lots of documents about her - but none of them ever had any name "Dorea" - she was always Lizzie. Nevertheless, I am sure it is one in the same.
Thomas 4 July 1857
John 8 Sept 1859
Roseann 30 August 1861
Edward (Edwin) 1865?
Mary 12 Aug 1867 (marriage cert)
William 25 Nov 1869
Theresa 24 Dec 1871- 19 April 1875
Laura or Laurence 14 May 1874
John 14 Feb 1876

John died on 16 February 1881 of apoplexy. His age was listed as 47. His occupation was listed as a saw spinder. He was buried in New Cathedral Cemetery in Philadelphia.

I am surprised that Susan did not act as godmother to any of John's children (I have all baptismal certificates but 2).

I am very excited - I never knew of this sister. Do you know where they were born? I have reason to believe it was County Offaly.

I can share lots more info - please let me know how you are related to Susan Seery and her relevant marriage info etc.

You may email me directly if you wish.

Also, how did you know about John? Do you have any additional documents? Do you have Susan's death certificate? Did it list the names of her parents? Neither John's death certificate (or their brother, Patrick's, death certificate) listed their parents' names.
