Hello Kate,

My Grandmother was Elsie Catherine Shegog.. Her father was William Lowrey Shegog, born 1854 in Ireland I believe, although I am not sure. I know that he married Maria Smith, B 1865. Maria Died and my grandmother was put into an orphanage. Her father later married Maria's sister Theresa, B1874, but where they were born, I do not know as yet. Thresa and William had a daughter Keitha, ( M Hugh Howard) . I don't have any recordings of births of my Grandmother's Siblings. I do, however, remember 2 of her brothers, John and Jim and I remember the name Maurice, and my sisters tell me there was a Mary, but I thought Nan (Elsie) was the only girl before Keitha.. I hope you might know something about my GG grandfather as they also lived in Tasmania. I remember Nan talking abut her father being a policeman in Avoca. I also have alittle piece of note paper that I wrote on many years ago with 5th Dragoon guards written next to it, however, I am not sure if it was my GG William or his father, James.

Kind regards, Gail

Greetings from the USA. I am techincally a Shegogue, but am related to the Shegog family. My relative is James Hamilton Shegogue born in 1806. Of Irish decent and originally with the last name of Shegog. James was a painter and found out that the French made more money so he added a "ue" to the end of Shegog and creating Shegogue. This is a little known fact and most art historians still say he is of French decent, but we have found otherwaise through our research.

Sincerely,

Benjamin Shegogue
