Have you tried
If not, e-mail me. James Menrow
is listed there. Also, for that time, try Taliaferro as a last name.

Cheryl, Kay,
I, too, am looking for information about the Tolliver family. In Particular, Rowan, Carter and Letcher Counties in Kentucky.
Thank you in advance for your help.

My g-g-grandmother was Amanda Tolliver. One possible reason for avoiding the past may be the feuds around Harlan County, Ky around the turn of the 19 -> 20th century. A fictionalized account is in John Fox Jr's 1908 book, The Trail of the Lonesome Pine. June Tolliver was a real life character, however.
Family legend is that the Talliaferros (literally, iron cutters) left Italy because of religious persecution, and stayed in England for some time. I don't know when Amanda's father came to the new world.
If anyone has information on Amanda Tolliver Fowlkes, probably born in the 1820s, mother a Jones, I would appreciate hearing it.

My grandfather was born in 1899 in Effingham, Illinois (I think). The only Tolliver family I ever knew lived in Illinois. My grandfather, Ralph Tolliver, married Daisy May White in Effingham, Illinois they had five children, my father Earl, also, Mildred, Keith, Otto and Betty. My grandparents died in 1948/50 and lived in Taylorville, Illinois at that time.
