Doug, I have WOOLNER from Lancashire in my family tree. Were any of your family in Bury in the 1800s?

JOHN WOOLNER married SARAH SCHOLES in 1818. JOHN and SARAH's occupations were Innkeepers. Children were: THOMAS 1819, ANN 1821, SARAH 1823, MARY 1826, BETSY 1828, LYDIA 1830, ALICE 1833, JANE 1834 (Mary, Lydia and Jane died young).

JOHN WOOLNER died in Bury 1851 and wife SARAH died the same year.

Any connection? Regards Glennys

Possible distant connection. Hugh Woolner was a grandson of my great great great uncle. I have some information on him (eg he died aged 58 of pneumonia in Budapest 13 Feb 1925, he was the son of the fairly famous sculptor Thomas Woolner - I believe he had one borother and four sisters)
You do not say how he was related to your GF - I would be interested to know.
