I'm struggling to find information about Frank sydney Withers(frank s) as both father and son served in the world wars where the Frank Snr was in the first whilst Frank Jnr served in the second but i can't find anything about them.
They are both called Frank Sydney Withers if you get a bit confused like me when searching for information about them.

Thank you advance.

You will not find any service records online for anyone who served with British Forces after 1923, those records are still with the MoD and you will need his service branch and ideally his service number; so get the family digging around for old letters or WWII items like pay book or discharge certificate.

For Frank Snr do you know what branch [Royal Navy, Army] he served with?

Do you have his date, place of birth and the area he was living when he joined up?

Frank Snr was born in Birmingham about 1876 and he married Mary ann Layton in 1904.

Do you know if they survived their Wars? I did a quick search through Ancestry's military records and came up with a Frank Withers from each war born in Birmingham. Both were unfortunately killed in action. If you need any more info let me know :)

Should have said earlier Frank Jnr died in 1944

http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=24...

Use his service details to obtain his records, mention he died in service.

see http://www.veterans-uk.info/service_records/service_records.... for details how to apply.

Paul - I found this re:Frank Withers Snr. I believe it matches up to your info: http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=46...

The Commonwealth War Graves website is very good for searching casualties and you can find out where they are buried. If I loose track of a relative and they were of age during one of the wars I always check this site. Sometimes, for obvious reasons, there is not much info.

Hope this helps

I don't believe this is the right Frank Snr becasue the record says that his wife is Susan where as in the Frank Jnr record is he married to Mary ann. But thank you for your help.
