Researching my family -- all born in Semlak (what was then Hungary). They are:

Keller / Pinczés, Rozsa / Rossinger, Grünwald, Wagner, Bartolf, Klamm, Mász, Edelsperger, Arnold (Harta), Wolf, Schäfer, Renner

Some were in Mezöberény, Harta, and Liebling before settling in Semlak.

I too am looking for relatives of Schwabien descent & was told by my mother that her great great grandparents were Koller...My mom was born in Dunapataj very close to Harta.. I have visited Harta many times..Just thought that Koller was really Keller...Longshot anyway...

My family (on bother sides, Szarvas/Stefan) came from Semlak and Arad.

Have immigration record of Szarvas coming to US with wife Katherine (nee Keller/Koller). They were traveling with a Pinczes/Keller to Phila.

My great-grandmother was Rozsa Grünwald who married Jozsef Stefan in Arad or Szemlak.

My mother's parents (Nickalaus Hirsch & Eva Grunewald both came to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA from Semlac Romania (it was then Hungary) prior to the Great War. Interested in any connections.

I'm interested in the name Grunwald and the similarity to my grandmother's name (as I know it) of Grunewald. She came from Semlak to Harrisburg, PA before WWI.

I have just have pointed out to me that many with the name of Hirsch went by the name of Szarvas (for political reasons) after Hungarian was declared the official language. I guess this was just to complicate things for us in the 21st century :<)

My father's family, Haibach, is from Semlac and Mezöberény, too. My dad's sister married a Wagner, my dad's cousin married a Bartolf, and my cousin married the former wife of a Schäfer. I visited Semlac in 1969 and 1973.

Semlak has a book of church records that you can get from their website - just e-mail the president of the committee/board at www.semlak.de, I believe. I'm currently at the wrong computer to upload it. But if someone is interested, please let me know and I can pass it on. (I MAY have lost it - I've been through several computers since then. But I'm pretty sure I have it. Just needed to put in that disclaimer.)

My grandmother was Magdalena Pangert, born 1888 in Mezobereny, Bekes, Hungary and her mother was Juliane Wolf (from Mezobereny) who married a Pangert. Magdalena had a brother Adam Pangert. Would love to know if this Juliane Wolf (my great grandmother) is part of your relatives.
