Orphanages in Hawaii late 19th, early 20th century
Both of my grandparents and their siblings were given over to an orphanage somewhere in Hawaii, probably late 19th century. My grandparents met there. Both of their mothers had lost their husbands and could not care for their large families until they remarried. My grandparents were Portuguese/Norwegian (grandmother) and German (grandfather). I only know their names and have nothing on their parents - the last names of my grandparents were Halverson and Klemm. I am mostly trying to search out the Portuguese side of the family right now.
