When a nun dies what name would be used on her death certificate, her original name or her given name?

Thank you!

The nun in my family is listed in the SS Death Index under her taken name as opposed to her birth name, but I'm not sure if that is always the case.

Surnames: Felix, Creedon
I would guess it varies. The nun I was looking for died in 1918 in Ohio and her death certificate had Sister Mary Felix (Creedon) on it. Creedon was her original name. It was listed in FamilySearch under "Mary Creedon or Felix", but didn't mention her original first name which was Julia.

It has certainly varied in my family.

Most of the nuns in my line are not to be found in the SSDI, while the priests are.

In a death index or a newspaper obituary, I have found that most include birth name, as well as religious name. I suspect that may vary by the strictness of the order and probably more modern records may have more information.
