Re: Angela Blakeneys request for info. I am also in Canada, I married Robert Blakeney in Hull, Que. He had an uncle named Fred. We are trying to figure out who your grandparents would be. Maybe we could help you more if we knew. We have not been able to trace the migration either , other than Nova Scotia as a possibility.

i live in west Jeddore. and my maiden name is Blakeney. We have what we call a pioneer cemetary here. From what i can remember there was 3 boats that came to Canada one landed here. There are places were you can see the original homsteads. There was a reunion about 12 years ago and over 600 Bakeneys showed up. I also went to England a lot of info there. if i can you more let me know

Who married Lydia Ann BLAKENEY?

John Howard MITCHELL? or John Henry MITCHELL?

I have both men marrying her (28 Sep 1872)...and I have both men dying on the same day...09 Jun 1891.

I understand that the gravestone for John Henry is in Oyster Pond's cemetery.
Where's John Howard buried? or is this a case of one person with two names or one real name?

I would appreciate your help on this as I'm looking for my great grandfather.

(My mother was a RUSSELL from Clam Harbour, NS.

My wife, whose Grandmother was Margaret Blakeney (born Cleator Moor, Cumbria, England, is a distant relative of a Fred Blakeney of Hull, Quebec who would be close to a hundred years old if he were still living. The common ancestors were Samuel Blakeney and Jane Thompson who came to Cumbria via Scotland from County Down, Ireland prior to 1841. Several of their sons migrated to Canada. Send an email if you wish to compare notes. There may be a connection.
