Robeson County, NC Lovett's
Does anyone have any information on Benjamin Lovette who was married to Malsey Barns. I find him listed as the father of William Lovette, Born 4/15/1836 in Robeson County, NC. I belive there is a connection with the Lovett line from Princess Anne County, VA. Can anyone help me prove it? He is my GGGGrandfather.
Regarding Ben Lovette from N.C. I have been researching a Ben Lovette that came from Lumberton N.C. to Ga. and into E. Ala. The reason is because my G-grandmother was Rebecca Lovette, daughter of Ben Lovette. She was born in Ga. Everything fits except I have been unable to find her after 1850. Do you know of a Rebecca Lovette that married a William Jones? Will share the info I have on this family if it looks promissing to you.
I remember getting a Lovette record from LDS that had a complete line including Ben Lovette Roberson County that moved to North Ga abt 1820-30 then to Troup County Ga abt 1840 then to Randolph Ala, 1850 then to Chambers County Ala. 1860. If my memory is correct this Ben was married to a Barns that died perhaps in NC. I do know he married a Mary Prewett (Pruitt) in North Ga. The mother-in-law is in the home. She is Penny Pruitt. Does any of this make in sense?

Ben Lovett -- clarification
I think I wrongly assumed you had said that your
Benjamin's wife was Molsey Barnes. I think it was
Tom Lovette who had said that of his Benjamin in another
post. Still, with my Benjamin having a child in 1837
in NC, and yours doing the same in VA, it probably
means we have two different Bens. But, stranger things
I've learned quite a bit more on this matter
this afternoon. Indeed, my Henry Pinkney Lovett
was the son of William Lovett and wife Abigale Ivey.
In turn, William Lovett was the son of Benjamin
Lovett and wife Malsey Barnes. William was born
to them in 1837 in Robeson Co., NC. This probably
means that we have two different Benjamins here
since it's not easy to have two children by the
same mother at the same time in two different states.
Now, Malsey was alive as of 1900 (census), at age 80,
living in Robeson Co., NC, along with the rest of her
family (the many Lovetts in Britts Township).
She was widowed by that time. From all indications,
she and her family had resided in that county their
whole lives. I'll need to dig further back in the
censuses to be sure.
The point is that, if this is true, then
my Benjamin Lovett never left Robeson Co., and thus
may not be your Benjamin after all.
Still, if your Benjamin is from Robeson Co.,
it's very likely that he would have been related
I do not know when the next chance I will have
to get to the census records will be. I kind-of
hope to make it this weekend. But, if I can't it may
be a while. I'd like to get this little mystery
cleared up for both of us.
You can explore the info I have on my Lovetts
at the web site I mentioned in the last post. Enjoy.
Certainly willing to share info. I am searching for the marriage of Ben Lovette's daughter Rebecca, born in 1837 in Ga. Ben is from Roberson county and is found in Randolf County Ala in 1850, and in Chambers County Ala in 1860. Rebecca is in the home in 1850 and gone in 1860. There is a very strong possibility she is my ggrandmother. I cannot find any record of her marriage. I have several strong reasons to believe she married William Jones. My grandfather was Samual O. Jones 1874-1913. Ben on this search for over 10 years. Can you help me? Can I help you? There is more info if this appears to have value.
Thanks. Looking forward to a response.

Robeson County, NC Lovett's
Leonard and Tom,
I've searched my Lovett line in Robeson Co.
back to Henry C. (Pinkney) Lovett, b. 1857.
His family lived in Britts Township, in Robeson Co.,
right next door to many other Lovetts, including
one Malsey Lovett, b. 1820. I am sure that they are
all related somehow, and therefore may be related
to your Benjamin Lovett. If you'd like to share info,
let me know.

My Benjamin Lovett was born abt 1777 NC. He married Mary Prewett in Ga in abt 1830 (Henry) This must have been wife 2. He was living in Meriwether in 1840. In 1850 he can be found in Chambers County Ala. There is a Rebecca (1838 GA) along with other children. A Penny Pruitt 75 is alson in the home. Perhaps mother to Mary. I have strong reason to think Rebecca married my GGrandfather William Jones from Ms. Please keep this in mind.
Just found it interesting that while searching for my great, great grandfather, P.P. Prewett I found your posting with some similar names. His wife, Elizabeth Lee Bedegrew born in 1860 (Lizzie) was later married to William C. Jones.
Keep me in mind if you ever run across my P.P. Prewett and I will do the same for your family.
