Donna, have you found proof that Cornelius from Scotland was the father of Cornelius that married Mary Smith? If he is then that will finish the line back to the first one Stewart that came into the USA. PLEASE let me know. Barbara

Barbara - my info came from Ron Norris - india38@mindspring.com. He lives in Taylors, S.C. He did not give me the source of his info. The story that Cornelius married the mother of Chief Osceola is strictly family lore. He does have a bible belonging to his gggrandparents listing Cornelius and his brother Robert.

I don't think your Cornelius ties in with my li8ne. I have three of them: Cornelius Sr. born bef 1775 in Scotland; son Cornelius Jr. born 1777 Greenville Co., SC; Cornelius III born abt 1834 Greenville Co., SC.

Cornelius Jr. married a Mary ?. Cornelius III married Narcissus Huff.

Would like to share info on Cornelius Stewart to see how he fits with my Stewarts. My ggggrandfather Cornelius was b. about 1778 and d. 12-29-1858 in Greenville County, SC. He married Mary Smith from NC. Their son Cornelius was b. between 1834 and 1835 in Greenville, SC but moved to Paulding Co., Ga and then to Macon County, Alabama.

I would be interested to know if Cornelius was kin to James Stewart, I have him living in Douglas Co, next to Paulding which used to be Campbell now Fulton Co., Ga. James was my gggrandfather. (Part of Douglas could have been in Paulding) Cornelius purchased property from James estate. thanks.
