On the Union County Genealogy Site I found my 3 and 4th great grandparents cemetary. My great grandfather, John William Hannon married the daughter of Theodore Mcquoid, (Rachel Mary Mcquoid)on 6/1/1879. If anyone knows the history of this family, etc. please let me know.

IMPORTANT: I plan to make a visit back to Indiana in a few weeks. How do I find the Brady Farm on Contreras Road (location of cemetary)? Should I make arrangements before visiting?

Rick,
Rachel had a sister Maria that married John William's cousin named John Patrick Hannon. Maria and John Patrick are my Great Grandparents. My mother's maiden name is Hannon. I know a little about the Hannon's and nothing about the McQuoids. I would love to talk with you. My email is
BlairJ@Allegiance.Net. Let me know if you are interested in exchanging info. Send me your phone number and I'll call

Rick,

I sent you an email to your address. I sounds as if we can help each other fill in some blanks.

There were three Hannon brothers that came to America that are known Michael, James and Patrick. They are the children of Michael Hannon and Martha Hopins. There is a contact that I can give you that has done a fair amount of work on the Michael Hannon (son of Michael) family from which you descend. His name is Gene Hannon and he lives in Muncie IN. I descend from James Hannon. I have been working with Phyllis Hannon-Riffe in Middletown IN on this line of the family since the beginning of this year. I know a fair amount of James and a little of Michael and Patrick.

The McQuoid family has eluded me to this point so I am excited to talk with you. I knew of Rachel as I mentioned and her older sister Maria. I have several pitures of Maria as she lived until 1948 (born 1864).

John William had a sister Mary three other brothers James, Patrick and Michael. Given that John has a grand father named Michael, a father named Michael, a brother named Michael, a son named Michael and a nephew named Michael, it gets very confusing. John also has brothers named James and Patrick, but also uncles of the same name. I have it all mapped out but it is difficult to cover with a more detailed document to talk from.

I look forward to talking to you.

Correction!!!!

I really didn't know about Rachel's sister Maria or about John's cousin John Patrick Hannon. Maybe you can fill in some blanks for me. I've been looking for a Patrick that I believed to be the brother of Michael. Can't seem to find anything on them. I have a good tracing of the Mcquoids from Rachels parents (Theodore Mcquoid and Sara White)to about the 1730's.

What a discovery! I've managed to find quite a bit about the Mcquoid but believe it or not my progress with the Hannon's hasn't gone as far. I was told that Patrick H Hannon was a brother not a cousin so I would definately want to talk with you. I'll send a private email to you later today or this weekend.

Rick,
John and Mary McQuoid were the first McQuoid in Union Co. as far as I know. They emigrated from Ireland around 1798.
At present I'm sure how many kids they had but two of the sons moved to the Southeast Iowa (William) and the other in Northern Missouri around the Memphis area. Decendants live in both locations as of this day and I am one of them. Presently living in South Korea. I have a web site with more info...when you open it click on Lineage on the top bar. Then click on (more info) under John McQuoid.

I visited Union County, Indiana last weekend. I found the cemetery but unfortunately the stones have been thrown in the woods and the plots have been plowed over. I asked to go into the woods but the owner would not let me. I have a detailed map on the cemetery location and I took a few pictures of the area as well.

Checked out the web site. Looks great. I have quite a bit of information collected on the Mcquoids but it will be several weeks before I can go through it all.

My great grandfather (John William Hannon) married Rachel Mcquoid and my uncle (Patrick Hannon) also married a Mcquoid (Maria, Rachel's sister). The father of the two Mcquoid daughters is Theodore Mcquoid. If you have any further information on Theodore I'd love to see it.

Help--It sounds like you have lots of information on the McCoid family. I am trying to find a Mary McCoid(or McQuoid) that married an Amos or John Hand. I think that they were married in Union County sometime after 1809. If you could help in any way I would really appriciate it.
Thanks--Angie Miner
