My husband and I inherited a 1892 letter, stating that a marriage took place between Andrew Blakney of Moncton, NB, and Lizzie Ward of Hartcourt, NB on April 13, 1892. It was officiated by a Baptist Minister from Petitcodiac, unfortunately can't make out his name. I hope this is some help.

Melinda, I can trace a GGrandfather back to NB b. 1863. His name was John Smith Blakney. I think his parents were William Smiton Blakney and Jane Smith Blakney. Does any of this sound familiar? Regards, Peter

You may find the info that you are seeking on the Halifax County Genweb Project site. The Blakney's of various spellings that came to the Maritimes were all related. They were two Brothers Chambers & David. they both initially came to Nova Scotia, Chambers remained in Nova Scotia, and his brother David took a land grant in Petitcodiac, New Brunswick. They evidentally were originally from Ireland. In the New Brunswick Archives located in Fredericton there is detailed information about the Blakneys'. You will also find on the Halifax Genweb site detailed cencus statistics for Chamber's Blakney's Family. I think that is where I saw the name John Smith Blakney. Hope that this helps you out in your search.
