There are a lot of Laroches, aren't there? Well, I would like to know if anyone is a decendant of Joseph Laroche who died on the Titanic or his son Joseph Laroche, Jr.

Joseph Philippe Lemercier Laroche was the first cousin of my great-great-grandmother. He was from Cap-Haitian Haiti. He studied in France became an engineer and married a french girl. He was travelling back to Haiti with his family on the Titanic. After the tragedy his pregnant wife and 2 daughters went back to France where his descendants live today.

I maybe a relative of "Laroche"

My father just recently told me that his father's last name was Laroche. When his wife saw the article of "what happened to the only black family on the Titanic" The portrait looks just like my father.
I'm now trying to research our family tree to make the connection.
My father father is Jacque Laroche son of George Laroche, I don't no the name of George Laroche's wife, Jacque's mother, but I have made some discovery about Joseph Laroche. He did have two daughters and one son, Juliette Laroche his wife, upon returning to France after the tragedy, gave birth to a son, naming him Joseph Jr. Laroche. He married a co-worker at the electric co. and had two sons and one daugther. I have a theory that one of his sons (naming him George), returned to Cap Haiten, Haiti and met an Haitian girl, and gave birth to a son (naming him Jacque).
If this is true that would make him my grandfather, and Joseph Philippe Lemercier Laroche my G.g.g.gfather.
I you have any information that I can use to find out if this is all true, I would love to corespond with you.
I also found Claudine Laroche (Joseph Jr. Laroche's wife) in Villejuif, France. I hope to one day talk with her, my father is writting and sending picture of himself (he looks just like Joseph senior and Joseph Jr).
I am also Haitian, but more americanized. I look just like my father (only that I'm female) I hope on day soon to speak and see any of the descendants of Joseph Philippe Laroche.

If you would like to contact me here is my phone number and address:

Lake Elsinore, Ca. 92532
or my father's:

I look forward to hearing from you...

Sincerely yours,
Marjorie Richard

Hello Ms Valerie,
I want to answer to your question about Joseph Jr. Laroche.
Joseph Phillippe Lemercier Laroche is the father of Joseph Jr. Laroche. Joseph Phillippe Lemercier Laroche died when the Titanic sank in March 1912. Joseph Jr. Laroche died in 1987 in France. Joseph Jr. was married to his co-worker at the Electric Co., in France Claudine. They had two sons, but I do not know their name. Claudine Laroche is still living in Paris. I read the story of the family of Joseph Phillippe Lemercier Laroche a little bit sad and also very interesting. I hope that I answer your question Ms Valerie.

I actually am, he was either my great uncle or double great. This is on my fathers side and they were prominent back in haiti before it became what it is now. And another quick thing that many people didnt know is his wife was 100% white.

Hello Ms. Richards,

I saw your information on this site that peaked my interest and realized that we might have something in common. My mother is from the Laroche family. When I was young, she often expressed the success of the Laroche family. They were judges, attorneys and were related to presidents in Haiti. Also, she mentioned they were called mulattos. However, I would have to get more information from her regarding the history, since I was not raised in Haiti and did not have an interest or understand the history as a child.

Regards,

Lee Cherry
