Hi everyone, this is a 2nd attempt on finding out how my Great Grandfather Daniel J Sullivan got over to the USA. He left Wales in 1912, leaving behind a wife and daughter to start a new life for himself in Buffalo NY. I cannot find what ship he went over on or which port he arrived at. I have been trying for about a year now and just cannot find him listed anywhere. If there is anyone with any advice i would appreciate hearing from you. I will list a little info about him, Daniel J Sullivan born 1874 in Merthyr Tydfil, died 1936 in Buffalo NY. He decided to leave in 1912 when my Nan was 2 yrs old for reason's we still don't know to this day and he never came back to Britain again. I think he was abit of a tom pepper and lied about his age, also would have possibly said he was Irish rather than Welsh as his parent's were born in Bantry Co Cork, Ireland. Thank you in advance for any reply's i get.

Hi Robert,

I have replyed to you a few times but my posts were being removed, when i queried why i was told they were just moved to Welsh immigrants.

You have found the correct Daniel, Thank you so much i am very grateful. He did eventually join his brother William who had already travelled over in 1911 with his wife to be Mary O'Brien. They married in August 1911 in Ware MA.

They all settled eventually in Buffalo NY. I do not know what sort of life Daniel had before he died in 1936, as i cannot find him on census records. May i ask how you found him? also his wife's name was Theresa, you were unable to read her name.

Once again thank you for replying.

Julia

Julia,

Glad to have helped. I was fortunate that I saw your message before the "message board police" moved it as I have never, ever gone to the Welsh immigrant board. And after all you were looking for a manifest. As admin/moderator for a couple of boards I don't understand the logic used to move your message.

Cheers,

Robert

Hi Robert,

I would appreciate your help again if possible, do you think you would be able to find Daniel's brother William Sullivan also Mary O'Brien. I know they had travelled over roughly between April to August 1911, and I am quessing together. I can give William's birth year which was 1882, I think Mary's was possibly 1882/83. I would say it's possibly again from Liverpool to Boston. I am interested as to what detail's Mary gave for her last place of residence.

Thank you so much

Julia
