The name of William Trickey shows up in the first Federal Census of Wells ,York.

Does anyone know his connection to the Trickeys of New Hampshire?

Regards,

Al

The only thing I can seem to find is in The NEHGS Register; Vital Records of York, Maine; which gives children of William Trickey and wife May the dau. of Robert Andross, b. in York: Zebulon Trickey...no birth date given. In notes for a reference referring to deceased members of the NEHGS, it gives:
"Trickey - William, born in New Hampshire 2-7-1778, died in Saco, Maine 2-27-1856, by Bruce Gray, Jr. of Oakland, Calif." This was in a 1956 issue of the Register...
I find this William Trickey buried at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco, but no wife listed with him.
This William would have only been about 12 in 1790, though...perhaps this is the son of the William in the 1790 census...
I know this doesn't help much. If anything more turns up I'll let you know.

Hi Lisa:

Thanks very much. You may have helped more than you think. I had not correctly placed the birth of Zebulon.

And there is at least one rumor that Zebulon may have had a brother named William.

Regards,
Al

Hi Al,
First of all, I apologize for the typo: mother of Zebulon should be Mary.
Well, I am glad I was of some help...I will run a quick check of Zebulon and just see if anything else comes up.

Well, here is an interesting entry in The Register from 1909: Vol. 63 page 195
"Trickey Family Bible-The following records are from a family bible left to the Public Library of Westbrook, Maine, by the late Edward Trickey, who died, unmarried, in 1907, aged 93 years:
Zebulon Trickey, born Feb. 7, 1767; married Dec. 15, 1799, Lucy Skillings:
Children:
1. Rebecca, b. Feb. 13, 1801, d. Feb. 17, 1804
2. Samuel, b. May 20, 1803
3. John, b. Jan. 17, 1806
4. James, b. Apr. 12, 1809
5. Edward, b. May 16, 1814
6. Robert, b. Mar. 29, 1818
7. Lucy, b. Sep. 15, 1824

This must not be the same Zebulon...but I thought it was something that must fit in there somewhere and be of interest to you.

There is also a Zebulon Trickey of Gorham, Maine married to Joan Wescott of Standish, Maine Apr. 20, 1828; listed in Vital Records of Standish, Maine 1786-1900. Given the dates and the fact that these towns are all in close proximity to each other; it makes me wonder if this is a 2nd marriage for the above Zebulon or if this is a 3rd Zebulon.
Wonder what ever happened to that bible? Maybe in the possession of the Historical Society there?
Well, perhaps this will help.

Hi Lisa:

Thanks again for the help. The Trickeys can be very confusing since every generation had at least four or five Johns, Thomases and Williams.

I'll take all the help I can get to untangle them.
