I'll check these names my masterfile and look
for any matches. Don't expect to find any, but
these names and dates/places will be entered
into the computer so that they will be there
when I'm merging other files/etc. If anyone else
(or info from someother source) provides
similiar names relationships and they prove
to the the same family line as you, you'll
hear from me immediately. What do I have?
Currently a database of 59K + names, almost
3K of the named PARENT. They come from the
currently four(4) main Parent families established
in New France (Canada) between 1600 1750.
"I have, to date, collected and partially
compiled the family ancestries of four
Parent family lines, a record of 2,430 Parent
surnamed individuals (52,950 individuals
in the complete tree). Because of the Roman
Catholic heritage of the French people, most
their baptisms, marriages, and burials are
a matter of Church record and that gives
a means to locate and trace those ancestors.
Like most French surnamed families that I've
come across over the last few years, those
Church records, along with other records of
the era, usually can take us back to the
first emigrant to come to North America and
will also mention that person's parents names
- those parents back on mainland France.
I, myself, am a 13th generation descendant
of one Andre Parant (French spelling for
Parent) and his wife, Marie Coudray. Andre
Marie were married sometime between 1575
1600 in St. Etienne Parish, Mortagne sur
Gironde, Saints, Saintonge, France. One of
their children, a son named Pierre Rene
Parant, born abt. 1610 in St. Germain de
Loise Parish, Mortagne au Perche, France,
became this family's first North American
citizen in "New France". Pierre and his
wife, Jeanne Badeau, born about 1631 in
France, were married 9 Feb. 1654 in Quebec,
Province of Quebec, Canada.
The second Parent family I have documented
begins with Jean Parent (Demoran) and his
wife, Jeanne Desjardins. Jean Jeanne were
both born in Normandie, France, and each
emigrated to Canada - whether at the same
time is not known. Jean Jeanne were
married in Kamouraska, Province of Quebec,
Canada sometime between 1717 1749.
The third Parent family that I gathered
information on begins with one Michel Parent
dit Parisien, born about 1643 in St. Jacques,
Ile De France, Paris, France. His wife was
Marie Anne Benoit, born about 1672 in
Latouche, Champlain, Province of Quebec,
Canada. They married 30 June 1692 at St.
Maurice, Trois Riveres, Province of Quebec,
The fourth Parent family issues from the
marriage of Mathurin Parent, b: 23 Nov. 1655
in Ste. Therese de Leugny (Vienne), France
and Jeanne Boucher, b: 23 Feb. 1667 in Quebec
, Province of Quebec, Canada. They were
married 12 Jan. 1688 in Montreal, Province
of Quebec, Canada."
The search is now expanded to find all Parents
regardless when where their ancestors (or
themselves) came to the North America.
