Looking for a list of Gov. Galvez' militia that served in Louisiana from 1777-1780 from the Lafourche area, probably known as the Valenzuela Post. These men took part in the Battle of Baton Rouge, and possibly others.

Would be appreciative of any information relating to Francois Marcantel and his descendants (spelling diverse)on board Le Chariot Royal with 40 odd French marine bound for Pointe Coupee around 1750. Twice married, 3 children, died and buried Oppalousas (?).

Hi, Paul, I was pleased to run across your query. Marcantel is one of my names I rarely come across. By coincidence, just as I was going back to your query this afternoon to write this note, I got an e-mail response to an old query about Leon Marcantel. (Hmmm the odds of that are nearly impossible, I wonder if I should rush out and buy a Powerball ticket?) On my mother's mother's side, I am descended from Francois/ Francois/ Antoine/ Leon/ Amelia. You may already have most or all that I have, but I will certainly be glad to help you if I can. Looking for anything specific, to start us off?
I was excited to see that you have information about how Francois arrived in LA. Don't recall that I'd ever run across that. Where did you find that info. (source)?
Will be pulling my related files together and get back to you over the course of the coming week. I look forward to hearing from you. John

Hi John, I've not had a post to my inquiry in quite a while, but when last I did, I got some interesting info.
Unfortunately, I recently moved and my things are still packed and I'm not sure I can put my hands on things right away.
I live in New Rochelle, NY, and work on Wall Street. Been in NYC 22 yrs, but born in Ft. Worth. My father was from The Big Thicket, where my great grandfather homesteaded and changed the family name to "Marcontell", not sure why.
If I don't get back to you soon, please drop me a reminder. All best, Paul
