I'm totally stuck on my ggg-grandfather Jonathan McDaniel born in 1782 in MD. Married Mary Powhorn in 1803 in Frederick County, MD. Migrated to Virginia sometime between 1819-1824 based on when and where his children were born. Third of 6 children being born in VA(first 2 were born in MD) in New Market in 1819, being my gg-grandfather Seorim McDaniel. I'm highly suspecting a change in the spelling of the family name during this time being as after a year of research I'm still coming up empty handed. Are any of these names familiar to anyone?

Hi,
I'm also searching for McDaniels or McDonalds in Virginia.
My focus is on Samuel McDaniel born about 1832 whose daughter Cora named her son Archibald McDaniel. Your Seorim had a brother Samuel the right age.
I came across a reference that said the McDaniels had left Scotland because they supported "Charlie over the water," meaning Bonnie Prince Charlie, and settled in the area of Culpeper Court House. My guess is that the Virginia McDaniels may well be descended from these three men:

Transported on the Gildart, master Richard Holmes, from Liverpool, 24 February 1747 to Port North Potomac Maryland.

MCDonald, Alexander
Jacobite. Transported from Liverpool.
--- Had sons John, Reuben and George.

MCDonald, Angus
Jacobite. Transported from Liverpool.

MCDonald, Donald
Jacobite. 56. Labourer. Camogren, Rannoch.
Prisoner at Stirling, Edinburgh, Carlisle and Lincoln.
