My paternal grandfather married a Zetta Smith from Tenn.? they lived in NC migrating in across N.C early 1800?s, have very little knowlege of them. They had 13 children, and they for the most part live in Buncombe Co., NC.
She had one brother I am aware of name Tom wife Julia Smith. no children there.
There are some very blue eyes that have descended from them and would love to trace back. Any ideas?
I also discovered we have some American Indian ancestors that were in
the trail of tears the Riddle Indians were Choctaw, Creek, this info came from court records in Oaklahoma.

I think this is the first time I have seen a Riddle posting about Cherokee heritage in VA. I've been told my Riddle family are Cherokee somewhere along the line but no proof yet. And as far back as I can go the family was in Virginia.
James Robert Riddle b.1840-not proven but I think he was born in Henrico Co.,Va. He had a brother, John Flemming Riddle,b.1835 James married Alma Jeannett Sheffield in 1865 they lived in Sussex Co.,Va.
On maternal side:
Maria Riddle b.abt.1831--father-Joseph N. Riddle. I know they lived at one time in Henrico Co. Maria married George Washington Cornett. Please let me know if you see any connection. Charlotte
