I am trying to determine whether Joses Lukasewicz, who arrived in New York from Hamburg on February 4, 1890, could have been my grandfather. The given name he used was not Joses but Stanley or Stanislaus. I have been unable to find in any U.S. record any Lukassus or Lukasiewicz using the given name of Joses. Any help would be appreciated. s/stanzuris@yahoo.com

Specifically I can't help but a suggestion is he could have used a nick name. My father is Harold but he went by Sam. I have seen letters from army buddies calling him Sam. No one knows where that came from but no one called him any variation of Harold.

I have seen the Lukasiewicz name written many ways, including Lukaszevicz, Lukaševičs, Lukaševič, Lukasavage, Lukashavage, and Lukahevage.
