I have traced my line back from Liverpool, through Sunderland to Norfolk, to the birth of Lewis Dix in Antingham in 1853. With the help of the Web I have now found his parents, James Dix and Elizabeth Dyball, born 1812 and 1818 respectively, and James' parents and family. The parents were Matthew Dix and Martha Thorton, married in Antingham, Norfolk, in 1803.

Anyone else working on these lines?

Surnames: Dyball, Crouch, Roberts
I am researching my brother-in-law's family history. My sister Rosemary Roberts married Mark Raymond Roberts in 1980.

Mark is descended from a Reuben DYBALL, born about 1832 in Norfolk, England, married Mary CROUCH (1837-1885) at Ashfield, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia on 25 July 1853. Their daughter Mary Ann Ruth DYBALL born Sydney on 4 May 1863 married George Horatio Roberts on 26 Jan 1887. She died in 1924.

Any information on Reuben DYBALL, parents, etc most welcome.

Dear Mike
I'm sure that there is a tie up some where, the trouble will be tracing it!
My Dixon family can be traced back to the Dix family who came from Trunch in N.E.Norfolk. We've got back as far as Edmund Dix in 1598. (He was a wealthy property owner, and left a will etc. etc.).
The strange thing is that there were three Dixon brothers in the early 1800's. William , James and John. John is the problem as he was born in 1812, and married Elizabeth Dyball in 1837. The three brothers father was Robert Dixon.
The strange thing is that Antingham is about under 2 miles from Trunch. Also that John spelled his name Dixen...one of the last generations changing from Dix.
I'm sure of my facts. Are you SURE that Elizabeth Dyball was the wife?
If you do read this, and contact me, we can compare notes.
Regards...........Mike Dixon

I have tried to find Dix and Dyball on your family tree, but can only get back 6 generations on the site.
I have both Dix and Dyball on mine.
Have you any Dix before James Dix (1841-1921)?
How far back is Dyball? I have an Elizabeth Dyball (1812-1877).
My Dix links go back to 1598.
If any of your Dix or Dyball connections go back to the Trunch, North Walsham area, e.g. in the N.E. corner of Norfolk, please contact me.

Mike Dixon

Hello Mike,
I have very little information on the DIX family tree.
All I know of James Dix is that he lived with my Grandmother a while in Grimston/Gayton Norfolk.
My grandmothers family name was Tipper. They had a tobaconist shop In Kings Lynn.
Unfortunately that is about the limit of it.
Sorry,
Ian
