Surnames: Karchauskas
Can anyone help me find any info on the name Anna Karchauskas from Lithuania. She was born around 1847 and arrived to Pennsylvania in the 1870's. Her parents were Matt and Julia (Kator) Karchauskas.

Thanks for offering your help. The majority of info on this name came from an Ancestry member. My Grandmother had told me some history such as names etc. and country of origin.
The spelling of this name came from a member. Any info on this name is greatly appreciated.

I had a friend check a reference book of Lithuanian surnames. The Lithuanian spelling would be KARC^AUSKAS. it is a common Lithuanian surname with the refence volume finding 184 examples in many townships across Lithuania.

The Polish spelling would be: Korczo(e)wski.

The C^ is pronounced as CH in English.

Best approach is to start with the most current US census from 1940 and find the ancestors you already know about and work your way back.
