Can anyone give me information on the records of St. Aidan's? My aunt says that is where her family went to church and school. Also, any info on the area called Ellangowan? They lived in the "patch" and moved to New Jersey about 1929. Family names include Flanagan )Flanigan or Flannigan), Hillibush (Hillbush, Hilbush) and Brennans. Thanks much, Audi

Hi,
Most, if not all, of St. Aidan's records are with St. Canicus Church, 22 S. Catawissa St., Mahanoy City, Pa. 17948.

Ellengowen was a small village (Patch) located in Mahanoy Township. You'll find a map of the Township villages showing their location as well as the US Census records for 1900, and 1920 , and the 1890 Schuylkill County census posted to the Schuylkill County webpage.

There are also surnames on the Schuylkill page that might be of interest to you.
Good Luck,
Shirley Ryan
