I am looking for information on my great grandfather Edward Horan. We believe he immigrated from Ireland as a child. He lived in Kentucky in 1870 and ended up in Birmingham, Alabama in the late 1880s where he worked for the L N Railroad blacksmith shop.

Hello, I see this post is like 13 years old, but I figured I'd send a reply.

I too am trying to track the Horan line. f we're talking about the same Edward Horan, which it sounds like it may be... it appears he was married to a Mary C Horan (don't have a maiden name for her) and they had several children including James Edward Horan and George Washington Horan both born in Kentucky in the 1850s.

The Edward Horan you mention seems to relate to mine. He came from Ireland, wound up in Louisville, Kentucky in the 1850s. It appears his sons and grandsons made their way to Birmingham, Alabama by the 1890s.

Anyhow, I don't have too much detailed info. Just thought I'd take a chance on this super-old thread posting to say hello.
